An exciting opportunity has arose for a Team Manager/Link Worker to join our small team here in Oldham.
The SCM team consists of SCM Practitioners, Link Workers, a Psychologist and a Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
The Oldham PCFT Structured Clinical Management is an intervention which is delivered from within the adult Community Mental Health Teams for people aged 18 and over.
The Structured Clinical Management team is a psychological approach, targeting the acute symptoms that are experienced by those with Complex Emotional and Relational Needs.
The team work collaboratively to provide containment skills and structure for service users. Delivering a psychological intervention, whilst also responding to clinical needs and risks as they arise.
The interventions offered are:
* Assessment
* Socialisation/ Stabilisation
* Treatment Phase (Group Work)
* Transition to Ending
People with complex emotional and relational needs (CERN) have difficulties managing their emotions safely, may struggle with making and keeping healthy relationships, and have difficulties with impulse control.
Main duties of the job
The Team Manager for the the Structured Clinical Management team is part of a wider management team within the Specialist Community Mental Health Service.
To be responsible for the ongoing operational management of the Structured Clinical Management Team, including embedding appropriate procedures, service materials and governance arrangements.
To have continuing responsibility for the operational management of the team, including coordinating the clinicians working in SCM. Management of referrals and line management of people working in the team (including appraisals).
To work with the CERN Clinical Lead to ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to service users in accordance with the SCM Model, Trust’s Policies and Procedures, and Professional Code of Conduct.
To work closely with colleagues within the Complex Emotional and Relational Needs (CERN) pathway, to ensure service users access the most appropriate and effective intervention for their needs (i.e. SCM, DBT, MBT, DTC, or SCPTS).
The post holder will additionally work clinically in the SCM service, offering individual and/or group SCM intervention alongside the wider management and colleagues of the Specialist Community Mental Health Team Services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide strong leadership and vision to the team maintaining robust quality assurance to enable a high-quality service to be delivered.
To direct and coordinate clinicians working in the SCM service and provide expert advice and guidance on the management of service user’s care.
To liaise with local leaders and managers accordingly to ensure equity of clinical resource.
To ensure appropriate governance of the service including for example; ensuring clinical records are kept in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures, managing incidents and work with the appropriate quality team in relation to any complaints or untoward incidents.
To hold line management responsibility for staff within the SCM team, including appraisals and sickness/absence in line with trust policies.
To maintain systems for planning and allocation of work and for the setting and reviewing of targets, standards and priorities within the team.
To ensure professional supervision systems are in place.
To be responsible for recruitment of staff, including administrative staff, from initial advert to short-listing, interviewing and induction.
To coordinate team meetings and disseminate relevant information on a timely basis.
To attend appropriate other local or Trust wide meetings and feedback on these to the service.
To develop and maintain active communication systems with relevant stakeholders from across the Trust – particularly in the CERN pathways.
To coordinate and report on any activity or performance data required by the Trust, including any KPIs or any other Quality Assurance Measures.
To manage the room bookings and estates management, for the SCM team and group.
To work in partnership with other statutory, independent sector and other agencies, in the effective discharge of the duties of the post and service.
To ensure that all staff are appropriately trained to meet the requirements of their role and any issues with performance are addressed.
To be a signatory for the team and ensure all financial procedures are administered according to the Trust Standing Financial Instructions.

Person specification
Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Professional qualification in health or social care (Nursing, allied health professional, social work)
* Current registration with professional body
* Masters level education or equivalent experience/ training
* Significant evidence of appropriate post registration training/ development.
* Accredited SCM Practitioner or currently working towards accreditation
Desirable criteria
* Therapy qualification.
* Mentorship qualification
* SCM Supervisor Training
* SCM Supervisor Accreditation
Experience
Essential criteria
* Substantial and proven experience of working with people with complex emotional and relational needs (CERN), e.g. people with presenting symptoms that fit with diagnosis of personality disorder.
* Substantial and proven experience of working with the SCM Model / in an SCM Service.
* Significant post registration experience working at band 6 level
* Proven experience of completing mental health assessments, risk assessments and risk management plans without direct supervision
* Experience of leading MDT and multi- agency working coordinated around service users
* Significant experience of working with service users experiencing suicidal ideation and self-harm
* Experience of leading multi-agency safeguarding processes/ investigations
* Experience of giving expert advice and supervising the work of professionally qualified staff
* Experience of providing supervision.
Desirable criteria
* Care coordination of people with CERN presentations.
* Completing Care Act assessments and commissioning processes
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* NICE Guidelines and current best practice in the management of people with CERN presentations.
* Substantial specialist knowledge of the SCM Model.
* Knowledge of other evidence-based approaches to working with this service user group, (e.g. DBT, DTC, MBT, CAT etc).
* Knowledge of STORM principles
* Knowledge of current best practice in approaches to the management of self -harm
* Knowledge of trauma informed approaches to care
* Knowledge of psychological formulation and approaches to working with this client group
* Care Act and social care processes for commissioning
Desirable criteria
