Job Summary

Join Bartlett Group Practice as a General Practice Nurse and become part of a friendly, supportive team dedicated to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care to our local community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in primary care, managing your own clinics while working collaboratively with a skilled multidisciplinary team.


Main Duties

* Provide treatment room services – wound care, cervical screening, immunisation programmes, and health promotion.
* Employ a holistic, evidence‑based approach to wound management, including ABPI readings, compression therapy and post‑operative wound care.
* Support cervical screening and other screening programmes.
* Implement public health immunisation programmes for adults and children.
* Participate in nursing, clinical governance and other relevant meetings.
* Have an existing interest in long‑term health conditions or a willingness to be trained.
* Support a variety of students from different disciplines.

Job Responsibilities

* Participate in national screening programmes such as cervical screening and deliver national immunisation and vaccination programmes.
* Provide or assist GPs/AHPs with contraceptive services.
* Act as a chaperone when required.
* Undertake health promotion to help educate patients, carers and families.
* Provide general treatment room duties, assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care.
* Support in emergency situations.
* Recognise, assess and refer patients presenting with mental health needs.
* Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with patient health care.
* Support the clinical team with safeguarding matters in accordance with local and national policies and procedures.
* Request and process pathology services as required.
* Collect data and participate in regular practice audit/research projects.
* Maintain your NMC registration and continuous professional development.
* Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, carers and co‑workers, ensuring statutory regulations are implemented and adhered to.
* Demonstrate understanding of IPC measures.
* Always promote a professional approach by attire and attitude to patients and staff.
* Attend and participate in staff and practice meetings as required.


Qualifications

* Suitable nursing qualification – degree or diploma level.


Desirable Qualifications

* Degree level or above qualification.


Knowledge and Skills (Essential)

* Knowledge of general practice nursing.
* Knowledge of the National Immunisation Programme.
* Knowledge of the Cervical Screening Programme.
* Caring and compassionate nurse.
* Good verbal and written skills.
* Ability to promote well‑being.


Knowledge and Skills (Desirable)

* Knowledge of long‑term conditions and their management.
* Ability to work with diverse groups within our community.


Experience (Essential)

* Experience of working in a GP practice.


Experience (Desirable)

* Experience of reviewing and managing long‑term conditions.
