Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide support to pupils, individually or in groups, to enable them to access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement. Working alongside class teachers, they will help to raise the learning and attainment of pupils, prompting pupils' independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. The successful candidate will plan relevant lessons for delivery in the provision, employing a range of adaptive teaching strategies to ensure that all pupils within the provision make progress. They will closely monitor the social, emotional and academic progress of pupils who access the provision, and will deliver small group intervention where required including literacy and numeracy. Applicants who have yet not completed the HLTA qualification will be considered, however they will be expected to complete the accredited course via our provider.
New Horizons Children's Academy is a "Good" school (Ofsted May 2022) with a three-form entry that teaches over 600 children from the local community. Our aim is to provide an education that meets the needs of all our children and we expect high standards of behaviour and a positive attitude to learning. Staff share this passion and are role models for our pupils with their diligence and commitment. In turn, our staff are supported with a framework that aims to bring the best out of them, within an environment that encourages reflection and self-improvement. There is an ongoing training programme in place, aimed at the development of expertise in a range of cognitive tools, strategies and resources for established and newly appointed staff. This is an exciting opportunity to join our contemporary school and join our Trust. You will work with modern facilities and grasp the opportunity to influence and shape the vision of our Academy. The Thinking Schools Academy Trust is a family of schools across the South West, South, South East and East of England, consisting of early years, primary, secondary and specialist provision. We believe that every young person in our community deserves to have the best opportunities at life regardless of their individual circumstances. That's why we invest in our people, so that our staff are best supported to positively impact our pupils.
