SMT Technician
Location: Bedford
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Mon-Fri
Salary: £30,610 per annum
Are you an experienced SMT Technician looking to join a forward-thinking electronics manufacturer? Our client, a global leader in assembly, is seeking a skilled and motivated SMT Technician to join their production team.
The Role
As an SMT Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient production within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working as part of an Autonomous Production Team (APT), you’ll operate and maintain SMT machinery, ensure adherence to quality standards (IPC-A-610), and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operate SMT equipment including printing, placement, and reflow machines.
Perform first-level preventive maintenance on production machinery.
Conduct quality checks during manufacturing to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and customer-specific standards.
Identify and act on deviations or defects, initiating corrective actions as required.
Set up and replenish feeders and solder paste according to work instructions.
Participate in quality improvement and problem-solving activities (QRQC, Top 5, workshops).
Apply and uphold workplace safety, ESD, and environmental protection rules.
Requirements:
Proven experience in SMT / PCB assembly.
IPC-A-610 certification or training (essential).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
Strong attention to detail and disciplined work ethic.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Flexible, proactive, and results-oriented mindset.
