Job Description
Are you passionate about improving the environmental performance of infrastructure development projects and helping the UK deliver its net‑zero commitments? As a Senior EIA Consultant you will work daily with technical experts within our Environmental Impact (EIA) team (over 165 staff across the UK and Ireland). The role is fully flexible – you can work from any of our UK offices or use our hybrid working model.
Project Focus
* Energy generation – carbon capture, storage, hydrogen and renewables
* Energy distribution and transmission – Great Grid Upgrade
* Carbon capture pipelines
* National and regional rail projects
* Highway improvements and greenway projects
* Regeneration projects, including port side developments
* Cross‑sector developments – e-commerce, minerals, waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial & residential, industrial
Responsibilities
* Provide Expertise: Coordinate environmental inputs to EIA screening, scoping, assessment and Environmental Outcomes Reports across all project life stages.
* Ensure Quality: Deliver conformance to the highest quality standards.
* Project Management: Coordinate resources, budgets and timelines.
* Collaborate: Work with integrated design teams to identify constraints, mitigation solutions and benefits.
* Client Contact: Maintain direct contact with clients and supply teams.
* Growth: Promote AECOM’s environmental services, support business development and proposal creation.
Qualifications
* Degree in an environmental discipline (preferably Masters) and relevant professional membership.
* Experience in EIA consulting, coordinating reports and technical review of specialist chapters.
* Knowledge of consenting regimes such as DCO, TWAO, TCPA.
* Ability to collaborate with specialist technical teams.
* Project management skills in programming and budget management.
* Commitment to innovation, continual professional development.
* Strong verbal and written communication; confidence engaging diverse stakeholders.
