Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2nd Line Analyst within Airbus Protect in Newport. The 2nd Line Analyst is an escalation point for all SOC operational activity, responsible for the day‑to‑day monitoring of multiple security devices (SIEM, EDR, SOAR) and ensuring all customer SLAs are met. The role involves working as part of the SOC team, completing SOC operational tasks on time, updating and closing work tickets with satisfactory technical details, attending technical workshops and customer briefings, and presenting and writing professional reports to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Perform further analysis of escalated events and alarms using the SOC toolset following heuristic guidance steps.
* Support and offer expertise across stages of the Incident Response lifecycle (preparation, detection, analysis, containment, post‑incident).
* Ingest and interpret multiple sources of data from research, reports and incidents to create actionable use cases.
* Assist with initial triage, scoping and containment during incident response engagements and compromise assessments.
* Mentor junior analysts and develop playbooks for them to follow.
* Lead efficient intelligence‑driven threat hunts.
* Act as a solid technical point of contact for customers.
* Maintain currency in cyber security concepts, tools and best practices appropriate to the Senior Cyber Defence Analyst L2 role.
* Carry out IOC searches and react using predefined playbooks.
* Provide feedback and support across the first, second and third capability within the Airbus Protect Defence Team.
* Contribute to the Continual Service Improvement life cycle.
Qualifications
* Experience in SOC operations, incident response and threat hunting.
* Strong technical understanding of SIEM, EDR, SOAR and other security tools.
* Experience analysing escalated events, alarms and performing detailed investigations.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional reports and stakeholder communication.
* Good time‑management skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Location & Travel
You will work from Airbus Protect offices in Newport, South Wales, with occasional requirements for business travel within the UK and abroad. Because of the nature of the work, these positions are only open to sole British Citizens and will require security clearance vetting to a minimum DV level if not already cleared.
