Listgrove has been retained by a specialist manufacturer of materials that serve the insulation, civil engineering and packaging sectors. They are now seeking an experienced Commercially biased General Manager to make the following role their own:
The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the business, reporting directly into the European Board. You will have 8 direct reports with overall responsibility for 50-60 staff across 3 manufacturing sites. This role will require someone who is at home with commercial & operational management, this includes; departmental oversight (production, engineering / technical, transport, sales) and P&L management. This is a stand-alone role and you are expected to operate as an autonomous General Manager.
Sites are located in Northamptonshire and 2 other UK Locations. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be located within travelling distance from Northamptonshire and will be required to visit the other sites on a fortnightly basis.
The objectives for the General Manager include:
* Developing the commercial aspects of the new site in Northamptonshire.
* An excellent eye for detail. Particularly in controlling costs and efficiencies
* Commercially aware, with proven track record of increasing the top line and at good margin
* Able to lead and motivate a Sales Team
* Good at nurturing and developing talent.
* To lead the company commercially and ensure that it remains market focused; in terms of product development, service offering and customer relationships.
* Drive the company’s commercial activities including marketing, sales, customer service and pricing.
Candidate's Profile
The ideal General Manager will demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
* A proven track record of managing the full P&L responsibility
* A proven track record of implementing and executing business strategies.
* A strong leadership style that can manage a range of business functions and personalities.
* Directly managing the field sales team including taking the sales lead on key client meeting and making pricing decisions.
* Have previously held responsibility for several business functions including operations and sales for at least 5-10 Years.
* Good commercial knowledge of the Construction market.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Technically competent with a production management background
