Overview
Food, DT and Art Technician – Grade 3 (Outer London): £28,521-£28,929 FTE with Performance and Loyalty Bonus, Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Harris Benefits.
We are seeking to appoint a Food, DT and Art Technician to work within our high performing Academy, 38 weeks per year. This is an ideal position for an experienced Technician with experience working within a school setting.
About Us
Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11-18, with a large sixth form of nearly 400 students. The Academy has three consecutive Outstanding judgments by Ofsted, most recently in 2025. We are a consistently high performing school. Main Areas of Responsibility
As DT and Art Technician, your responsibilities may include:
* Assisting and advising teaching staff on preparation and layout for practical exercises, running trials, demonstrations, and helping students with learning activities as appropriate
* Safe disposal of waste and maintaining hygiene and health and safety standards
* Preparing equipment and materials for lessons to teacher specifications, including shopping/ordering and preparing ingredients, making up special equipment or modifying existing equipment as necessary from staff instructions
* Advising students on safe use of tools and equipment and on best practices for practical work; advising staff on Health and Safety issues
* Helping students prepare materials for 3D and 2D projects (e.g., stretch canvas, prepare screens for printing)
* Assisting in practical lessons and after-hours activities as requested
Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:
* Qualifications to A Level or equivalent
* Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
* Experience with a range of Art, Food Technology and/or Design Technology equipment and resources
* Experience or solid understanding of working as a technician in a school or educational establishment
