A Cardiff-based, international business is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join their growing team. The company excels in their field with products that have a genuine impact on end users. The role is ideal for an engineer with experience in a highly regulated industry and a background in product development.
Responsibilities:
* Lead design and implementation of changes to existing products, ensuring they remain fit for purpose, especially for medical devices.
* Manage design change projects within budget and timeframes, mitigating risks and informing stakeholders.
* Refine concepts through prototyping, lab testing, and evaluation.
* Ensure product designs are feasible, cost-effective, and fit for purpose.
* Assess sustainability benefits of new designs or material changes.
* Contribute to technical reports and design documentation for internal and external review.
* Provide technical expertise in product design and decision-making.
* Review and approve documentation such as test reports, regulatory documents, and design reviews.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
* Experience in product change roles within manufacturing.
* Ability to understand user requirements and develop concepts into commercial products.
* Knowledge of test development, data analysis, and statistical interpretation.
* Experience in a regulated industry.
* Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
* Experience in packaging design.
