Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the business, ensuring robust controls are in place while providing meaningful insight to support continued growth.
The Opportunity
This role offers a broad and varied remit within a close-knit business environment, where finance is a key driver of decision‑making. You will take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function while also contributing at a strategic level, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys both detail and big‑picture thinking.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business, including management accounts, payroll, and transactional finance
* Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts with insightful commentary
* Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads
* Provide commercial analysis and financial insight to support business growth and profitability
* Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT returns and year‑end reporting
* Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, accountants, and advisors
* Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems
* Support and develop junior finance team members where applicable
About You
We are seeking a motivated and adaptable finance professional who thrives in an SME environment and enjoys taking ownership.
You will likely bring:
* A recognised professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or be qualified by experience
* Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance role, ideally within an SME
* Strong technical accounting knowledge combined with a commercial mindset
* The ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage with non‑financial stakeholders
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Experience with accounting software and strong Excel capability
