Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £12.60
This is a 39 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday, working times to be confirmed.
To start 11th August .

East Lothian Council seek to appoint a positive, resilient and committed individual for the position of Home Economics auxiliary at Rosehill High School. Rosehill opened in August. It currently has a role of around pupils in S1-S4, and will expand further with an additional year group from August. Our courses in Food Technology have a high uptake.

The new secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to learning, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up to date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) wing, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state of the art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus goes beyond the traditional classroom and encompasses outdoor learning and sustainability. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors.

This position will be based within our Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, working closely with departmental staff.

The successful candidate must be able to show that they can:

Demonstrate the Rosehill core values of respect, kindness and responsibility, communicating positively with everyone in our school community.

Appreciate the importance of accuracy and attention to detail in the resourcing and preparation of foods required for classes.

Follow all appropriate guidance and legislation around food hygiene and health and safety.

Use their initiative and work independently as appropriate.

To provide daily support to the Home Economics Department in secondary schools in delivering Home Economics education to school students.
