Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme as the lead for the Data Analysis & Statistics Work Package within the Data, Analysis & Digital Workstream. The NCEA programme collects comprehensive data on ecosystems to demonstrate their benefits for society and the economy, aiming to inform policy and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the data analysis and statistical approach for the programme.
2. Develop and coordinate the workplan for the work package.
3. Support the team in developing analytical approaches, resolving technical issues, and ensuring standards are met.
4. Collaborate with other work package leads on cross-cutting issues.
5. Engage with stakeholders and represent the team on working groups and thematic boards.
6. Manage the team, providing leadership and support.
The Team
The role is within the Strategic Evidence Design & Assessment (SEDA) team, part of the Chief Scientist’s Group. We are a friendly, dispersed team of data specialists dedicated to delivering vital water environment insights.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proficiency in R/R Studio for data visualization and analysis.
* Experience designing monitoring networks and analyzing data with mixed models.
* Experience managing technical contractors.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make risk-based decisions.
* Experience building relationships with stakeholders.
* Line management experience (desirable).
Development opportunities and training will be provided.
Additional Information
This is a national role with flexible working location, based at an EA office. Some travel and overnight stays are expected.
