Overview
We are recruiting experienced Groundworkers to support a culvert replacement project, involving excavation, drainage installation, concreting, and structural works around existing watercourses. Candidates must have proven experience working on culverts, concrete structures, and general civils groundwork.
Based on industry‑standard duties for Groundworkers and Culvert Installers, this project requires operatives who can carry out excavation, drainage, concreting, and safe installation of culvert systems.
Key Responsibilities
Culvert Replacement & Drainage Works
* Excavate and prepare ground for culvert removal and installation.
* Install new culvert sections (concrete, steel, plastic) ensuring correct alignment and flow levels.
* Backfilling, compacting, and reinstatement of ground around culverts.
* Implement drainage connections and water management solutions.
General Groundworks
* Site clearance, vegetation removal, and preparation.
* Installation of temporary and permanent drainage systems.
* Concreting works: slabs, bases, structures, shuttering assistance.
* Kerbing, paving, reinstatement, and finishing works.
Site Operations
* Reading basic drawings and following site specifications.
* Operating small plant and tools (dumper, roller if applicable).
* Maintaining safe working areas, following RAMS and H\&S procedures.
Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience working on culvert installations / replacements or heavy drainage.
* Strong concreting experience (foundations, bases, structural work).
* Competent with groundwork operations including excavation, drainage, kerbing, and reinstatement.
* Ability to interpret drawings and work to levels.
* Physically fit and able to work in challenging environments.
Certification Required
* CSCS Card – Essential (construction site access requirement).
* Plant tickets beneficial (CPCS/NPORS for dumper/roller).
