Overview

We have a new Community Mental Health Occupational Therapist vacancy. We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the team at South West Kent Mental Health Together and Mental Health Together Plus teams. Community mental health services are undergoing national restructuring with a focus on delivering interventions as a key part of Occupational Therapy. We have an established team of OTs and aim to maintain and develop our current interventions in the new Mental Health Together and Together + services.


Responsibilities

* Complete OT assessments and interventions. The intervention may be completed by the successful candidate, or by OT apprentices, support workers or junior team members under supervision.
* Develop and deliver group work to support complex service users to develop skills for daily living and strategies to manage mental health recovery.
* Contribute to core team functions such as trusted assessments, urgent assessments, risk management and management of clinical pathways delivered by the service, working with a large and varied MDT.
* Provide high quality mental health services to service users with a variety of mental health difficulties; deliver OT assessments and interventions, both group and individual, in line with OT pathways.
* Provide supervision and mentoring to more junior OTs, OT Apprentices and Support Workers; provide OT student placements.
* Contribute to service development and audit.
* Support the delivery of high quality mental health services to service users and carers/family members, in line with the occupational therapy pathways.


Requirements / Qualifications

* Experience at Band 6 level with ability to develop new skills; comfortable supervising others and supporting learning.
* Ability to work within an MDT and to deliver supervision and mentoring.
* Willingness to undertake training and support for unfamiliar areas of working.
