Ramboll invites you to apply for a Rail Engineering Advanced Technician Apprenticeship in our Rail Systems Team, assisting in delivering Rail Systems design services across various projects. You will receive full support to achieve a Level 4 qualification (Rail Engineering), typically through day release, laying a strong foundation for your career.

The Apprenticeship Programme Duration, Cost, and Qualifications

The academic course lasts 4 years. The Apprenticeship cost is covered by Ramboll via the Apprenticeship Levy.

Qualifications awarded:

* Level 4 Rail Engineering Apprenticeship
* Eligibility for registration as an Engineering Technician upon completion

Post-apprenticeship, there are opportunities for career progression within Rail Systems or further education through apprenticeships.

The Apprenticeship involves working 4 days a week in your role and studying 1 day a week at The Educationwise Academy, through lectures, labs, tutorials, workshops, practical sessions, and online activities, with some variation upon enrollment.

Towards the end, you will complete an End Point Assessment demonstrating your knowledge, skills, and behaviors learned during the apprenticeship.

Join our Rail Systems Department

As a Rail Engineering Advanced Technician Apprentice, you'll be part of a dynamic team at our Frome office, working with industry experts applying cutting-edge technology in ground and related structure design. You will receive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced professionals.

Your key responsibilities include:

* Applying scientific, technical, and engineering principles to railway signalling design, maintenance, and construction both domestically and internationally
* Understanding safe working practices, regulations, and risk management
* Designing and developing engineering solutions considering failure modes and causes
* Managing engineering projects using project management principles
* Understanding the commercial aspects of the railway industry
* Gaining knowledge of railway systems and their roles
* Working towards an IRSE Signalling Designer’s licence with mentorship
* Performing complex analysis with computer modelling, interpreting technical material
* Developing digital tools and approaches
* Communicating complex concepts through presentations, reports, sketches, and infographics
* Recognizing the importance of operational interfaces and third-party requirements
* Identifying and mitigating health & safety, design, sustainability, and commercial risks
* Monitoring design implementation throughout project lifecycle
* Contributing to company procedures and participating in task groups
* Pursuing continuous professional development towards membership or chartership
* Collaborating with national and international teams to deliver projects
* Promoting Ramboll’s brand, values, and strategy
* Applying policies on health, safety, quality, and environment

Your starting point for growth

We support your development from day one. Candidates should have:

* Achieved or be on track for 3 A Levels including maths at grade C or higher
* 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 (C) or higher
* A keen interest in the Built Environment
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Strong technical skills
* CAD knowledge or experience is desirable but not essential

* Willingness to learn and develop
