About the Role
As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead 2–3 agile teams across stream-aligned, platform, or enablement domains. You’ll focus on people leadership, technical capability, and delivery effectiveness—partnering with Tech Leads, Delivery Leads, and Scrum Masters to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes. You’ll foster a culture of excellence, support platform stability, and champion agile ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
1. Line manage 8–15 engineers, providing coaching, career development, and performance management.
2. Enable team delivery by removing impediments and fostering effectiveness.
3. Partner with Tech Leads and Delivery Leads to align technical direction and delivery outcomes.
4. Collaborate with Scrum Masters on process optimisation and agile practices.
5. Build capability in Python, SQL, AWS, and Snowflake.
6. Promote engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
7. Operate within Team Topologies to ensure clear team boundaries and interactions.
8. Support platform stability and effective handover to support teams.
9. Bridge technical and business stakeholders, translating requirements and priorities.
10. Drive continuous improvement across people, process, and technology.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
11. Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
12. Technical expertise in Python and SQL.
13. Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, agile methodologies, and test automation.
14. Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments.
15. Understanding of modern engineering team design (. Team Topologies).
16. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable
17. Hands-on experience with AWS and Snowflake.
18. Background in asset management, investment banking, or capital markets.
19. Familiarity with data engineering workflows and analytics platforms.
20. Experience scaling engineering organisations and hiring in competitive markets.
21. Cloud and agile certifications.
