Job Overview
* You will already have acquired some dispute resolution knowledge and have knowledge of the construction industry. You will contribute to professional development and participate in training where appropriate.
* You will take day-to-day responsibility for more straightforward matters and actively progress complex matters. You will demonstrate well-developed drafting skills.
* You will be confident and effective in negotiations with counterparts.
* You will communicate with clients to understand their needs and help meet them, and assist clients in arriving at practical and cost-effective solutions. You will build relationships with client personnel.
* You will take on a significant role within the team on complex matters and be able to lead the team on smaller matters. You will identify when a team member needs support and be approachable for advice, giving regular and constructive feedback.
* You will understand market and client developments and work with the business development team to develop opportunities. You will build and maintain a network of business contacts and proactively identify opportunities to introduce your clients to other offices and practice areas.
* You will have excellent attention to detail and identify inconsistencies that affect quality or client needs.
* You will gather information from various sources to identify strengths and weaknesses in yourself and mentor junior associates to promote learning and development.
Essential Skills And Experience
* English or Scots qualified with relevant post-qualification experience at a law firm with expertise in the UK construction sector.
* Experience in disputes work, focusing on the construction and infrastructure sector in the UK.
* Wider commercial disputes experience is advantageous but not essential.
* A proactive team player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels and drive tasks forward under supervision.
* Client-facing experience and the ability to understand and respond to client needs.
* A commercial approach.
