The Operations Manager will take a leading role in the management and performance of mua Water’s clean and wastewater networks within our NAV portfolio. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer ready to step into management, combining strong technical knowledge of wastewater networks with a proactive, hands-on approach to operational excellence. The role will oversee the end-to-end operation, maintenance, compliance, and optimisation of network assets, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of water and wastewater services in line with industry, regulatory, and legislative standards (Ofwat, DWI, Environment Agency). A day in the life of a mua Operations Manager – Clean & Wastewater Networks Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of clean and wastewater networks, including sampling, testing, monitoring, maintenance, and fault response. Oversee network performance, identify recurring issues, and implement sustainable solutions to prevent reoccurrence. Coordinate maintenance schedules, reactive repairs, and asset replacements for pipelines, pumping stations, attenuation systems, and sewers. Ensure compliance with all UK water quality and environmental regulations (Ofwat, DWI, EA), maintaining robust records and audit trails. Oversee commissioning, connection, and documentation processes to ensure assets meet mua Water standards and regulatory requirements. Support the management of the CRMC clean water process, routine inspections, and quality control measures across all networks. Provide technical leadership to engineers, contractors, and service partners, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. Manage communication and reporting with Self-Lay Providers (SLPs), developers, and external stakeholders, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of issues. Support operational teams in managing administrative and reporting obligations, ensuring all operational data, reports, and purchase orders are accurate and up to date. Maintain assurance that all network assets are correctly recorded, tested, commissioned, and fit for business use. Implement and maintain asset management systems, folder structures, and document control processes in line with mua Water standards. Develop and implement contingency and response plans for water emergencies, including contamination, supply disruption, or drought events, in line with UK emergency planning frameworks. Lead investigations into incidents or failures, applying a cause-and-effect approach to determine root causes and prevent future risks. Still interested, does this sound like you ? Experience in UK water utility or NAV operations. Excellent understanding of regulatory frameworks (Ofwat, DWI, EA) and industry best practice. Confident communicator with strong leadership and coordination skills. Proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
