Job Title:QTS/QTVI trainee

Reports to:Head of Education and QTVI

Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time + 2 weeks

Location: VI Centre of Excellence - Nescot College. Epsom, Surrey KT17 3DS

Salary: £38k to £45k FTE. Actual - £34,346 to £40,673 p.a. SEND Allowance of £2,260 pro-rated if applicable

We are looking for a qualified teacher with QTS to work with students/pupils with Vision Impairment (VI) at Dorton College/Surrey VI Centre of Excellence as part of the education team and wider college VI teams, as part of a holistic multi-disciplinary approach.

You will be enrolled onto the 2-year QTVI course from starting in the role and you will work alongside the Head of Education and QTVI, college based LSAs and partner college teaching staff providing VI expertise. You will identify appropriate teaching approaches for college students and communicate these effectively to staff, monitoring the implementation and their effectiveness in achieving learning and EHCP outcomes.

Some main duties of this role include:

•Providing specialist advice, guidance and strategies to support staff in meeting specific learning needs, including English and maths strategies and resources, for the college students.

•Undertaking a range of different assessments of prospective students as required.

•Coordinating examination access requirements and resources.

•Keeping appropriate records of taught sessions and student progress.

•Contributing as required to multi-disciplinary meetings regarding student progress, and provide reports regarding the outcomes from strategies put in place.

The ideal candidate will have QTS and a passionate desire to become a qualified teacher of vision impairment. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work with a range of stakeholders; pr oven ability to write educational reports which are suitable for internal and external agencies; ability to work to deadline and complete actions in a timely manner.
