Overview
Are you a general practitioner or specialty doctor looking to provide primary care services within our rehabilitation wards? We are looking for a part-time general practitioner / specialty doctor to be based across 2 of our community hospitals in Bridport and Weymouth. You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in planning and provision of care, investigations, treatment and discharge for patients, provide timely clinical reviews, participate in ward rounds and maintain up-to-date clinical records. You will assess new patients, agree a treatment plan, arrange appropriate investigations and complete clinical records and drug charts. You will work in close association with the Medicines Management Team to achieve best practice in prescribing. Bridport has a 24-bed ward and Westhaven 33-bed ward; both are rehabilitation wards supporting patients of all ages who are stepped down from acute hospitals before their onward journey home or to a nursing home. You will compliment a team of GPs, associate specialists and ANPs already in post, with day-to-day management of patients with a variety of ongoing and common medical conditions.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the planning and provision of day-to-day care, investigations and treatment of patients on the ward.
* Provide timely clinical review of patients, participate in ward rounds and maintain accurate clinical records and drug charts.
* Assess new patients, agree a treatment plan, arrange investigations and discuss with nursing staff; liaise with the Medicines Management Team to ensure best practice in prescribing.
* Support ward staff with communication to relatives, ensuring they are informed of patient progress and support the multidisciplinary team to develop clinical assessment skills.
* Liaise with the Responsible Clinician, GPs and other medical staff; participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings where these occur during the duty period.
* Join the medical rota and may be required to work at both sites, with priority given to Westhaven as the main base.
Working pattern
This role is 24 hours per week with a commitment to flexible working, career development opportunities and NHS benefits. The main base is Westhaven, with work at Bridport as required.
