Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Governance Officer to join the UHLG Corporate Governance Team and support the Group in delivering our ambitious strategy. The role ensures that the Trusts meet statutory duties and maintain high standards of corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide robust administrative support to the Group Associate Director of Corporate Governance & Company Secretary (ADCG) as Head of the Group Corporate Governance Team.
* Facilitate meetings and events within the Group Governance and Assurance Framework, ensuring robust administration and compliance with policies and procedures.
* Act as the designated business lead for an identified Hospital Site and lead on specific statutory duties for an individual Trust within the Group.
* Maintain databases and systems, using Microsoft Office and the Trust's Board Portal system.
* Support statutory duties, Council of Governors, ad hoc projects and line‑manage team members.
* Provide administrative support for membership and governance for each Trust in the Group.
* Keep up to date with regulatory changes affecting corporate governance of NHS Foundation Trusts.
* Communicate key governance agenda points to staff, patients, and external partners.
* Handle queries confidentially and competently.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
* Desirable: ICSA or relevant professional qualification, postgraduate diploma, or demonstrable experience in a similar role.
* Evidence of continuing professional development in health‑service company secretary or corporate governance.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience in committee administration.
* Influencing skills with ability to motivate teams.
* Intellectual flexibility and innovative performance improvement.
* Political judgement and understanding of complex policy and diverse interest groups.
Knowledge
* Confidentiality and minute‑taking best practice.
* Understanding of corporate governance concepts and principles.
