BETA is seeking a Traffic Staff Engineer to join our team. This position will play a key role in performing traffic and transportation design, developing contract plans and documents, and mentoring junior staff. The role involves collaboration across multiple service areas, assisting with business development, project pursuits, and coordinating projects with clients.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct field investigations including roadway inventories/assessments and traffic data collection.
2. Perform traffic engineering design including traffic analysis, signal design, phasing, timing, modeling, and simulation.
3. Prepare engineering plans for traffic signals, intersection geometry, pavement markings, signage, temporary traffic control, and construction staging.
4. Prepare contract documents, reports, and estimates.
5. Collaborate with design team members and provide technical support.
The position is based in BETA’s Manchester office, with flexibility to work from other office locations. BETA offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing remote work up to 2 days per week.

Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
* 1-5 years of related experience in traffic and transportation projects.
* Background in traffic and transportation engineering.
* AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience (desirable).
* Familiarity with Traffic Engineering software (HCS, Synchro).
* Ability to collect field data and perform asset inspections.
* Ability to lift/move objects up to 40 pounds.
* Ability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions.
* Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Certifications:
* Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT).
* Professional Engineer license.
