Advanced Pharmacist – Mental Health

Delivering a specialised clinical pharmacy service to promote and facilitate the safe, rational and cost‑effective use of medicines within the Mental Health Care Group. The post holder will be expected to deliver clinical care directly to patients within specialist therapeutic areas, mentor and train post‑foundation, trainee and other pharmacists in this area of speciality. They will provide specialist clinical pharmacy advice at directorate, directorate speciality and other specialist meetings, developing policies and protocols with current evidence and best practices. They will also undertake patient consultations and prescribe where appropriate.
This is a fixed‑term secondment for 12 months from the start date due to funding. If you are interested in applying for it as a secondment, please obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying.
Main duties of the job
Providing clinical pharmacy services within the Outpatient Mental Health team including Adult Community Mental Health Teams.
Development, audit, monitoring and provision of clinical pharmacy services and directorate support services to the mental health directorate. This involves providing specialist advice and expertise to clinicians, nursing staff, business and finance managers, to ensure the safe, effective and economic use of medicines.
Providing specialist clinical pharmacy advice at directorate, directorate speciality and other specialist meetings, developing policies and protocols with current evidence and best practices.
Delivering clinical care directly to patients within specialist therapeutic areas, and mentoring and training post‑foundation, trainee and other pharmacists in this area of speciality.
Taking lead responsibility for the development and delivery of practice research within the area of specialism.
Welsh Skills Desirable: Welsh speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are considered an advantage. Fluency is not required.

Person specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent e.g. BSc/BPharm/MPharm.
* Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Appropriate postgraduate qualification e.g. clinical diploma, or equivalent clinical experience.
* Member of RPS faculty or building portfolio for credentialling.
* Member of Specialist professional group (RPS/CMHP).
Skills and Attributes
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement.
* Ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multi‑disciplinary team and management.
* Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role.
* Positive attitude to change.
Experience
* Relevant experience as a clinical pharmacist.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working as Independent Prescribing in a specialist area.
* Evidence of clinical audit, practice research.
* Evidence of implementation of procedures, policies and protocols.
