Offer description

Purpose of Role

To be a key collaborator within Teckentrup and ABC Doors' Estimating Team with the purpose of nurturing new and existing client relationships to secure a wide-ranging scope of contracts, from small works through to large scale construction and infrastructure projects. To facilitate, with a solution-led mindset, the generation and management of estimates required for sales and bidding efforts. To pursue profitable project awards of door solutions into the construction and refurbishment sectors. To analyse and fulfil proposals, tender packages and client requirements, whilst ensuring Teckentrup and ABC Doors offering is also compliant with regulatory and certification obligations.

Key Accountabilities

Ø Review and interrogation of incoming enquiries to identify suitability and fit for Teckentrup & ABC product and service solutions at daily team "Enquiry Triage" reviews and as and when required.

Ø Examination of enquiries selected for pricing to identify product specification and performance criteria to facilitate accurate pricing to meet the customer's needs. A solution mindset is required – "What is the door being used for?" Customers, typically, are not door experts, Teckentrup and ABC Doors are. Engagement with customers to identify their true needs, educate and guide Customers to the right, safe and compliant solution for the doors' application, which may be beyond the originally requested specification is the expected approach.

Ø Diligent and accurate documentation of all activity in the required file structures and software platforms used to manage estimates. The expected outcome is a complete communication timeline and price build-up logic is available for review at any stage from enquiry submission, revision, project secured and handover to the Project Team for delivery.

Ø Seeking every opportunity to engage with the customer to add value by demonstrating competence and expertise with advice on the suitability of the requested specification, performance criteria that must considered, such as life-safety certifications, or would be beneficial for the intended application.

Ø Adherence to the Company Gated Process and the Estimating Department processes that feed into the Company Gated Process without exception.

Ø Delivering good customer service and communication by email, phone and video call is central to building successful opportunities. Confident use of all channels is essential and a preference for phone and video call is expected, followed by email confirmation of details, agreed actions and timescales.

Ø Identify gaps in information needed to price an enquiry and work to fill the gaps with customer engagement or, if the information cannot be secured, ensure qualifications capture the omission and resultant logic deployed to reach the proposal.

Ø It is expected that when committing to an action with a customer, we always do what we say we will. If circumstances change, that change is immediately communicated, good or bad, along with a revised plan/timescales. Good, timely and confident communication is a central tenet of the role.

Ø Presenting prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information with the quotation systems deployed by the Company. Ensuring specification, performance, inclusions and exclusions are clear and well documented allowing the client to gain a precise understanding of what has been priced and how it relates to the requested specification.

Ø Expected to present a professional image at all times when representing the Company.

Ø Expectation for some evening and weekend work and work related calls.

Ø Expectation for some out of hours travel and overnight stays.

Ø Representing the Company behaviours of Customer Focus, Delivery, Teamwork & Communication, Resilience & Courage, Common Sense and Technical Capability.

Dimensions of Role

Ø Clarifying the client's needs and expectations, responding to client's requests for information (RFI) and enacting RFI to clients for clarifications.

Ø Researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors where applicable.

Ø Assessing and adhering to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements.

Ø Identify opportunity and risk during tender process.

Ø Contribute to the improvement of Teckentrup and ABC Doors' costing processes to further standardise.

Ø Work closely with key members of the project team (project managers, commercial manager) and liaising with clients and suppliers.

Ø Be aware of any contractual implications when submitting cost estimates, seeking guidance where necessary before submitting to clients.

Ø Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.

Ø Identify labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Analysing plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs.

Ø Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain pre and post contract estimates.

Ø Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data.

Ø Visiting project sites and clients as and when necessary to gather information and foster stronger relationships.

Ø You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.
