About the role
By joining our well-established Fostering Service as a Supervising Social Worker, you will become part of a team that puts children and families at the heart of everything.
You’ll be working alongside a team of dedicated colleagues who are committed to creating safe, nurturing, and thriving environments for children and young people throughout Devon.
As a Supervising Social Worker, you will:
1. Champion high standards of professional practice
2. Bring your expertise in fostering regulations and legal frameworks
3. Conduct unannounced visits, annual reviews, and quality assurance
4. Deliver engaging training to foster carers
5. Promote restorative practice and a culture of reflection and learning
This role is based at County Hall in Exeter with flexible working options available. There is an expectation to be in the office for a minimum of 3 days a week.
What You’ll Bring
As an experienced Social Worker, you will be passionate about improving the lives of children and Young People in Devon. Using a restorative approach you will be able to demonstrate:
6. A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
7. Completion of your ASYE
8. Experience in social care, including multi-agency and court work
9. Strong communication and relationship-building skills
10. Knowledge of fostering legislation, models, and theories
11. Excellent planning and recording abilities
12. A valid UK driving licence and access to a car (exceptions may apply under the Equality Act)
Fostering, Supervision and Support in Devon
Our Fostering Service plays an integral part in Devon County’s role as a corporate parent by ensuring that all placements for children and young people in Devon are safe, nurturing and thriving.
Comprised of three teams, Exeter & East Devon, North & Mid Devon and South Devon, our Fostering Service works with appropriate regard to National Minimum Standards for Fostering, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011, and other relevant legislation to provide support, advice and supervision to foster carers throughout the county.
