Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Building Engineer I, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our building systems operate smoothly and safely. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Performing scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems.
* Addressing service requests, including hot/cold calls, plumbing issues, and lighting repairs.
* Troubleshooting minor equipment malfunctions and escalating issues as needed.
* Replacing light fixtures, filters, and other components as required.
* Maintaining accurate records of inspections and equipment performance.
* Interacting with tenants, contractors, and property managers to resolve issues.
* Assisting with preventive maintenance tasks and contractor oversight.
* Conducting property inspections to identify deficiencies.
* Following safety protocols and ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Providing guidance to junior technicians when needed.
* Communicating effectively with teammates, leadership, vendors, and tenants.
* Working closely with senior engineers to develop your technical skills.
* Performing other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Two to three years of relevant experience or equivalent certification/trade experience.
* CFC Certification preferred or a willingness to obtain it.
* Basic knowledge of work order and facility operation systems, as well as Microsoft Outlook.
* Familiarity with fire/life safety equipment and procedures.
* Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
* Ability to read blueprints and understand code requirements.
* Willingness to work after hours, weekends, and during emergencies as needed.
* Competent knowledge of tools and their care.
* Ability to read and write in English to understand manuals and write reports.
* Desire to develop familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds. You should be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
Working Conditions
This position is 100% in-office, requiring you to work during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this role.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $44—$46 USD.
