Job Description
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and fully stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a strong understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in implementing practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
1. Coordinate the team to deliver a seamless shopping experience for the community.
2. Open and close the store, complete duty cover, and ensure decisions benefit customers, colleagues, and safety.
3. Serve as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational queries.
4. Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
5. Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times.
6. Prioritize replenishment of products important to customers.
7. Ensure point of sale and shelf labels accurately reflect standards.
8. Address overcharges immediately and prevent reoccurrence.
9. Manage queues proactively to ensure a positive shopping experience.
10. Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns.
11. Maintain knowledge of store operations and lead practical improvements.
12. Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
13. Communicate effectively with the team, keeping them informed.
14. Share ideas to simplify operations with the Store Manager.
15. Always prioritize the customer and tailor service to meet their needs.
16. Resolve customer queries promptly, leaving them satisfied.
17. Recognize and celebrate colleagues providing excellent service.
18. Identify and remove obstacles to delivering great service.
19. Resolve colleague queries in the Store Manager's absence or escalate as needed.
20. Ensure appropriate staffing, covering shifts for short-term absences or sickness.
21. Act as a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety and security.
22. Monitor and act on internal communications promptly, keeping colleagues informed.
23. Coordinate team efforts to meet customer needs and store operations, reporting issues to the Store Manager.
24. Balance time between service and replenishment areas.
25. Support Store Manager in managing staff absence and conducting return-to-work interviews.
26. Build relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues and seeking coaching opportunities.
27. If applicable, manage the day-to-day operations of the Post Office Local, including background checks for criminal and financial history, passing these checks to proceed with the role.
