Seaton Park Medical Group, with GP Practices in Ashington and Newbiggin, are advertising for a Salaried GP.

Main duties of the job

To provide personal medical care to patients of the Practice, working as part of the Practice team.

The scope of the role includes the full range of patient related and clinical activity of the Primary Care Team, within all of the practice locations and patients homes and all administration associated with patient care.

There are options to develop a special interest, such as minor surgery, women's health or other specialised areas. Personal development is actively encouraged and supported.

Pharmacists, ANPs, Musculoskeletal and Mental Health Practitioners, and a highly skilled Nursing team.

We work as part of Wansbeck Primary Care Network with 4 other practice including Bedlingtonshire, Gables and Guidepost covering c. 48,000. The Network has a variety of Additional Roles including Community Link Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, First Contact Physios, Health & Well Being Coaches, Dietician and Pharmacists.

Clinical Responsibilities.

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing both acute and repeat prescriptions, dealing with queries and patient test results.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health Providing counselling and health education.

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

Timely assessment of incoming electronic and paper correspondence relating to both patient and non patient information as required, using the appropriate electronic systems.

To record clear and contemporaneous computer based consultation notes to agreed standards using SystmOne.

Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.

Participate on a fair share basis in the Co-ordinator and Urgent GP corporate sessions.

Participate in training plans of GP registrar, medical and nursing students as required.

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other responsibilities with the Practice.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment, Enhanced Services and ICB requirements.

A commitment to personal development and participation in audit and the Practices In-House Training Education & Development (TED) programme.

Participation in an annual individual performance review, annual GP Appraisal including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.

Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.

Participation in regular mentor sessions with a designated Partner.

Pay scales conventionalsalaried GP role

Annual salary increments (where applicable) are paid in line with startdates each year. Annual salary reviews, also applicable from April eachyear, will be informed by the DDRB recommendations but the Practicereserves the right to make its own decision on pay, based onaffordability.

Medical Idemnity

Full payment if part of Practice Group Scheme. Pro rate reimbursementoutwith Practice Group Scheme

Annual leave

30 working days per annum pro rate number of sessions worked

Statutory and publicholidays

10 days which includes 2 "NHS days" which is added to annual leaveentitlement.

Entitlement to protectedtime for CPD

4 hours per week pro rate on an annualised basis.

NHS GP appraisal

2 sessions of protected time in addition to CPD entitlement

Hours of work

Full-time is defined as 37.5 hours per week based on 9 sessions of 4hours and 10 minutes per session.

Transport

Providing, maintaining and running a motor car or other suitabletransport agreed by the Partners is the personal responsibility of thesalaried doctor and may also be offset against earnings on the GPs taxreturn.

Fees

Fees chargeable for non-NHS work for the Practices patients duringPractice time are to be paid to the Practice.

Maternity pay

Entitled to provisions of the General Whitley Council (GWC) Handbook(Section 6).

- first 8 weeks of absence, full pay less any SMP or MA receivable

- for the next 18 weeks, half of full pay plus any SMP or MAreceivable provided that the total receivable does not exceed full pay

- then 13 weeks' SMP or MA that they are entitled to under thestatutory scheme.

Sickness leave benefits

Based on NHS service
