Charing Cross Imaging have the opportunity for a suitable experienced, HCPC registered MR Radiographer join the MR team for a fixed term to cover maternity leave.

Charing Cross Hospital provides a range of acute and specialist services, a 24/7 accident and emergency department and hosts the hyper acute stroke unit for the region. It is also a growing hub for integrated care in partnership with local GPs and community providers.
This post will give you the opportunity to build on and develop your clinical skills in MRI. You should enjoy working collaboratively to provide the best possible care for our patients at all times. You will need excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach to work, as participation in extended working hours including evenings and weekends is essential.
Charing Cross Hospital offers a range of MR examinations with both clinical and research work being undertaken.
Main duties of the job
1. To perform a range of general and complex MR examinations.
2. To assist and deputise for the MR Lead radiographer to manage the day to day running of the MR department.
3. To providence professional leadership and training of the MR team and provide a high quality patient focused service.
4. To provide a courteous approach to patients and staff.
5. To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
6. To clinically justify MR requests and plan work load by prioritising requests in accordance with clinical urgency.
7. To assess the quality of images and assist junior staff when required.
8. To maintain a safe working environment by the safe use of equipment and accessories and reporting any faults through the appropriate channels.
9. To be conversant with the department computer systems and ensure that accurate records are maintained.
10. To participate in database housekeeping as required.
To participate in audit, research and quality control programmes.
To provide an MR service to patients across all sites as required

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
11. BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent.
12. College of Radiographer accredited IV cannulation course or equivalent
13. HCPC Registration.
Desirable criteria
14. Post graduate qualification or evidence of formal study in MR
15. Student Clinical Assessors qualification or course.
16. Ability to perform IM injections and give rectal contrast
Experience
Essential criteria
17. MR experience at band 6 level or above.
18. Evidences an up to date knowledge of routine and complex MRI techniques, including contrast studies
19. A knowledge of recent developments within the profession.
20. An understanding of the factors affecting service throughput and quality
Desirable criteria
21. Previous experience as Band 7 MR Radiographer in the NHS
22. Experience of training staff and students in MR
Skills
Essential criteria
23. Evidence of a commitment to continuous personal development in MR
24. Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff
25. Evidence of an ability to cope with conflict and complaints at local level commensurate with Trust policies.
26. Evidence of an ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
