The Medical Library is seeking to appoint a new team member to the role of Senior Library Assistant (Liaison Support NHS). This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to deliver teaching and to support research and clinical practice with a diverse community of University of Cambridge staff and students and healthcare professionals working at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (CUHFT). The role is 0.5 FTE (18.25 hours per week) and working pattern is to be agreed with the successful candidate but will include an 8am Monday start time.
The appointed candidate will work with the Liaison Librarian (NHS) to deliver information skills to support the clinical care, research and professional development of staff at Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will work closely with the Liaison Librarian (NHS), Liaison Librarian (School of Clinical Medicine) and Senior Library Assistant (School of Clinical Medicine) as well as within the wider Medical Library team. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues in libraries throughout the University of Cambridge as well as local NHS libraries.
You will support users through teaching, in small or large groups or one-to-one, online and in person. Topics will include literature searching and reference management tools. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your searching skills and knowledge and understanding of library databases. You will be involved in outreach activities including induction events for new CUHFT staff across the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and you will help assess the impact of outreach and training activities through data collection and analysis.
You will also be involved in developing and maintaining library social media content and marketing materials to help develop awareness of library services. You will be scheduled to work at our busy enquiry desk during designated hours, helping library users in person and online, so you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and strong IT competence. Applicants should possess excellent time management skills and self-motivation and should have a genuine interest in their own professional development.
