What you will be doing
As a moderator, you’ll be lookingat samples of candidates’ coursework to make sure that a centre’s marking isaccurate and consistent. You’ll be part of a team and you’ll work closely withyour team leader.
Forremotemoderation,you will do a ‘virtual visit’ with a centre where you’ll download samples ofcoursework from a central repository and then feed back to the centre via avideo call and follow up with a report to the centre.
Forvisitingmoderation,you will contact centres to arrange a visit, visit the centre in person andfollow up the visit with a report to the centre.
We’ll make sure you are fullytrained so you understand the moderation process and your part in it. Therewill also be standardisation activities to make sure you can apply the markingcriteria consistently.
The amount of work involved willvary depending on the mode of moderation and the level of the qualification.
You will generally be allocated aminimum of 5 centres initially, and should expect to moderate each centre atleast twice in an academic year (once in winter/spring and again in the summer).
What we are looking for
Core skills andexperience:
* Relevant teaching or assessmentexperience within the last 3 years. We also consider PGCE students who havecompleted the classroom teaching element of their course.
* Current or previous experienceteaching within the UK education system.
* A teaching qualification or adegree related to the assessment subject
* Be living in the UK
General skills:
* Keen eye for detail
* Work well underpressure
* Keep to deadlines
* Use IT confidently
