Job Description Salary: Starting salary expected to be between £23,810 – £27,000 depending on experience (in line with IPSA pay scales) Location: Tavistock (office based) Contract: Initial 6 month fixed term contract with a view to being made permanent on review Closing date: 19th October 2025 Sir Geoffrey Cox KC MP is recruiting a Constituency Support Officer to join his constituency team in Tavistock. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work of a long-established parliamentary office, supporting a stable and experienced team with a strong focus on communications and campaigning. Full mentoring and on-the-job learning will be provided. The successful candidate will be motivated, organised and committed, with a can-do attitude, to helping deliver effective support for the people of Torridge and Tavistock. You will be confident in engaging with constituents, liaising with local stakeholders, and providing high-quality communications support across a range of channels. Key Responsibilities Drafting responses to constituents, ensuring cases are dealt with promptly, sensitively, and accurately. Attending constituency meetings and supporting the MP on visits, including follow-up actions. Gathering and analysing information to assist with casework and policy issues. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with data protection legislation. Developing and maintaining the constituency’s online and social media presence, including creating graphics, video content, and publicising surgeries and local news. Supporting office communications, including stakeholder engagement and drafting newsletters or updates. Assisting the Executive Office Manager with horizon-scanning, identifying potential issues, and providing advice to the MP where appropriate. Supporting the smooth running of constituency events, meetings, and surgeries. Requirements Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong attention to detail. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload under pressure. Experience in communications and creating engaging digital content across platforms. A proactive approach to problem-solving and an ability to work independently and as part of a team. Political awareness and the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion. Willingness to learn and develop with full mentoring support. Desirable Experience of project management, campaigns, or stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of the constituency and local issues.
