Job Title: Clinical Psychologist
Location: Leeds
Salary: £47,810 - £54,710 DOE per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Organisation: Brainkind, a charity aiming to improve the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Provides neurorehabilitation across assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals to support individuals in regaining lost skills.
Main purpose
To work as part of a multi/disciplinary team, providing clinical psychology and neuropsychology input within the Brainkind neurobehavioral model to service users with acquired brain injury. You will consult with internal and external professionals, family members and service users, engage in relevant research, and advise other professionals as appropriate.
Main tasks and responsibilities
* Provide specialist psychological/neuropsychological assessment of adults with acquired brain injury referred to BIRT and related services, using information from tests, self-report scales, observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, families and others involved in care.
* Coordinate service users care as appropriate and agreed with your supervisor, in the role of keyworker/clinical lead.
* Formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological and/or neuropsychological intervention to support neurorehabilitation as part of the multi/inter disciplinary team, based on current evidence-based best practice.
* Elicit personal goals from service users and translate this into SMART goals with the team.
* Undertake a range of psychological therapeutic and rehabilitation interventions, drawing on various models and modalities (individual, family, and group), tailored to the individual and context, with ongoing evaluation of outcomes.
* Contribute specialist psychological advice to the multi/inter disciplinary formulation and intervention plans, and oversee relevant psychological aspects of their implementation in collaboration with other staff.
* Undertake psychologically based risk assessment and risk management for relevant service users and advise the team on psychological aspects of risk.
* Maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping in line with Brainkind and national standards for health care records.
* Collect relevant data on work activities as required and communicate in a timely, confidential manner to ensure delivery of a high-quality service.
* Consult with and provide specialist psychological guidance to carers and families of service users.
* Exercise autonomous professional judgement for the psychological management of own caseload, seeking supervision as required.
* Participate in regular on-call support for the unit on a rota basis.
* Demonstrate a duty of care to equipment and resources supplied by Brainkind.
* Stay informed of current research and evaluations to support evidence-based practice and contribute to the multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to project management and complex audits to help develop service provision.
* Coordinate administration of agreed outcome measures.
* With approval, initiate and conduct psychologically based research relevant to care of adults with acquired brain injury, as agreed with the Consultant Neuropsychologist.
* Keep abreast of developments in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology, particularly in neurorehabilitation.

Qualifications (Essential)
* Degree in Psychology, accepted by BPS for Graduate Basis Registration (GBR) or equivalent
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or equivalent to register as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC
* Registered with the HCPC
* Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to the service user group
* Experience producing clinical reports

* Ability to research, analyse and manage complex clinical information from multiple sources
* Resilient with the ability to work with unpredictable service users
