Financial Controller Full Time, Permanent | Monday–Friday, 9:00am–17:30pm Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum (DOE) We are delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Controller to join A Class Care during an exciting period of growth. This newly created, hands-on role offers the opportunity to shape our finance function, introduce robust processes, and provide high-quality analysis to support timely and meaningful decision-making at board level. A Class Care is an award-winning home care provider with over 20 years’ experience supporting vulnerable adults and elderly clients in their own homes. As our organisation expands, we are looking for a driven, proactive finance professional who is ready to “roll up their sleeves” and take ownership of the day-to-day finance operations while helping steer our long-term financial strategy. About the Role As our Finance Manager / Financial Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all financial operations while providing strategic insight to the senior management team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both operational delivery and strategic thinking, and who is motivated by the opportunity to grow with the business and build a finance team over time. Key Responsibilities: Operational Finance Oversee daily finance activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance. Manage credit control processes, monitor customer credit limits and proactively chase aged debt. Process monthly payroll and ensure accurate payroll reporting and reconciliation. Financial Control & Reporting Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring strong internal controls and adherence to regulatory requirements. Prepare timely monthly management accounts, board packs, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis. Support budgeting and forecasting cycles in collaboration with the senior management team. Commercial & Strategic Support Provide analytical insight and commentary to help the board make informed, timely decisions. Identify process improvements and implement stronger financial systems and controls. Support the business with scenario modelling, financial planning and commercial analysis. Leadership & Collaboration Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to discussions on performance, strategy and risk. Work closely with external auditors, advisors and regulatory bodies. Build and develop the finance function as the business grows. About You We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, adaptable, commercially aware and eager to grow with the organisation. Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience in finance management, financial control or a similar role. Strong understanding of credit control, payroll and accounts receivable/payable processes. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial information clearly. Highly organised, detail-oriented and confident working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels. Desirable ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification (or working toward). Experience working in a growing SME environment/ care sector. Proficiency with Xero or similar accounting software.
