The Opportunity
As a Design Engineer in the Component Engineering department, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable air and fuel system components – from concept through to production. This hands-on role provides the opportunity to lead design projects, work with a cross-functional team, and collaborate globally to deliver world-class products.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver component development projects within time, cost, and quality targets
* Lead and participate in design reviews to gain business support and approval
* Develop specifications and collaborate with suppliers to ensure robust design and delivery
* Conduct FMEA assessments and coordinate simulation and validation (DVP&R) activities
* Investigate technical issues using 8D problem-solving methods
* Understand customer requirements and translate them into effective design solutions
* Prepare and review technical documentation to support production release
* Engage with global teams to implement solutions at manufacturing facilities
* Promote continuous improvement using Lean principles
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Required:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* 6–8 years of relevant engineering experience
* Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals and engine components/systems
* Proficient in CAD (ideally Creo) and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter)
* Experience designing powertrain and/or engine components
* Strong project management and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Desirable:
* Experience with fuel systems, air systems, EGR systems, or turbochargers
* Familiarity with APQP, FMEA, and DVP&R processes
* Background in the off-highway diesel engine sector
* Experience in simulation and test-based component development
