Alreet Thanks for looking at this volunteer position. Do you fancy joining us on the journey to making Burnley 27' Year of Culture?
We're looking for residents from Burnley to join our new team of Culture Makers. You'll be the beating heart of what culture means to your community. The position is likely to be 20 hours per month voluntary position, mostly meeting in the evening or weekends.
These roles come with full BLC employee benefits such as - Tickets to the Mechanics, a massively discounted Leisure Membership for Burnley Leisure & Culture and full support from Team BLC and our partners is included.
As a Culture Maker you'll:
* Help shape cultural events and projects in your area
* Work alongside artists, organisers and other local volunteers
* Go on cultural trips and exchanges to spark new ideas
* Bring your neighbours along for the ride and make culture for everyone
No experience needed – just enthusiasm, commitment and pride in your area. Training, support and expenses provided. We are going on a journey of discovery to see how culture happens or what it looks like in other places. We will connect Culture Makers to artists to commission and explore new cultural work to take place on their doorstep in 2026.
We're looking for people who live in or care about these areas:
* Bank Hall & Fulledge
* Barclay Hills & Trinity
* Rose Hill & Burnley Wood
* Brunshaw & Brownside
* Padiham
* Rural Burnley
Culture Makers will:
* Meet regularly in small neighbourhood groups and at borough-wide gatherings
* Work alongside artists and community partners to co-design cultural activity
* Access a commissioning pot of funding to bring an artist into their community and create a project that reflects local voices and priorities
* Go on cultural visits to other towns and festivals for inspiration
* Represent their neighbourhood on a borough-wide advisory panel feeding into Burnley 2027
No previous experience in arts or culture is needed – just enthusiasm, commitment, and a passion for Burnley. Training, mentoring, and all expenses are provided. This is a chance for existing Burnley volunteers to add something new to their journey, connect with others across the borough, and see their own ideas and projects come to life with real resources behind them.
