We are looking for a senior governance leader to join us at an exciting time for the Bristol NHS Group. Comprising two Trusts, NBT and UHBW, we are one of the largest NHS organisations in the country with big ambitions to transform services in line with our Joint Clinical Strategy and the NHS Ten Year plan.
As our new Group Director of Corporate Governance, you'll play a central role in ensuring our Group Board operates with integrity, transparency, and confidence as we progress towards full merger. You'll lead the development and delivery of a robust governance framework that supports safe, effective decision-making while being agile and responsive to our rapidly changing environment.
This is a high-impact senior leadership role where your expertise will help us navigate ambiguity, complexity, manage risk, and uphold the high standards and values we embrace as a modern NHS organisation. You will work closely with the Group Chair, Group Chief Executive, and other senior leaders to ensure we meet our statutory duties, regulatory requirements, and commitments to the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
We are an equal opportunities employer actively working towards a diverse workforce. We aim to recruit and retain a workforce that reflects the rich diversity of the local population at all levels and are committed to designing our services around the needs of individual patients and their communities. Anonymous information from your application will be used to ensure we meet our pledge.
We hope you will decide to join us and become part of this exciting journey, helping us shape our future together.
Our commitments include:
* Investing in and caring for our staff, supporting your health, wellbeing, and career development through management and training support.
* Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
* Ensuring language fluency requirements are met for UK work eligibility.
* Using secure electronic systems for onboarding and employment records.
* Communicating only via official NHS channels and being vigilant against scams.
Key requirements for the role include:
* Significant senior-level experience in corporate governance, ideally within NHS or public sector settings.
* A clear understanding of governance's role in enabling high-quality care and organizational performance.
* Strong political and organizational awareness with the ability to influence at Board level.
* A commitment to continuous improvement, transparency, and ethical leadership.
* A passion for making a positive difference for the communities we serve.
This is a unique opportunity to lead governance across a newly formed NHS Group, helping us improve outcomes for our patients, staff, and the wider community.
