We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Strathpeffer Medical Practice.
This is a permanent part-time position for up to 20 hours a week, with flexible working hours available between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Strathpeffer Medical Practice is a semi-rural Practice based in the scenic Scottish Highlands with a list size of approximately 3,900 patients. Our main surgery is situated in Strathpeffer, with a smaller branch surgery in the nearby town of Dingwall. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care whilst recognising the importance of achieving a good work-life balance. We are looking for a like-minded person to join us in delivering safe, compassionate and effective care for our local community.
Our Team
You will be joining a collaborative team comprising of:
1. 3 GP Partners
2. 1 Salaried GP
3. 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner
4. 2 Practice Nurses
5. 1 Healthcare Assistant
6. Experienced administrative staff
7. Practice Manager
We work closely with a range of community colleagues including Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Community Psychiatric Nursing, Guided Self-Help, Substance Misuse services, Midwifery and Health Visitors, alongside Community Nursing and Palliative Care Teams.
The Role
As a key member of our nursing team, you will support the delivery of high-quality patient care through a mix of clinical and administrative duties. Your work will help ensure the practice runs efficiently and maintains a welcoming, professional environment for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
8. Phlebotomy
9. ECG recording
10. Blood pressure, height and weight measurements
11. Specimen processing
12. Chaperoning
13. New patient medicals
14. Assisting in minor surgery and contraception procedures
15. Ordering and room stocking
16. Clinical waste disposal
17. Data entry using Vision, Docman and other practice systems
What Were Looking For
Skills & Experience
18. Trained and competent in phlebotomy
19. Experience working in Primary or Secondary Care setting
20. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
21. Excellent written and verbal communication
22. High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
23. Confident with IT systems, including Microsoft Office; willingness to learn practice systems (Vision and Docman experience advantageous)
24. Accurate and efficient data entry skills
25. Ability to maintain confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection standards
26. Good computer skills and willingness to learn practice IT systems, although experience in Vision and Docman is an advantage
27. Clean driving licence
