At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a Network Engineer I to join our team out of our office in Birmingham, UK.

The Network Engineer I will work with network and security teams to provide support in configuring, troubleshooting and monitoring physical and virtual infrastructure across global enterprise. You will be responsible for maintaining existing configuration on routers, firewalls, switches and other network equipment and setting up new offices using company defined policies and procedures. Additionally, you will be expected to monitor alerts and notifications generated by various security tools, perform analysis of the alerts for potential compromises, and perform remediation steps that may be necessary based on alert analysis.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Overall support and security of networks assigned (11.1%)
2. Monitor and support network stability and performance using existing solutions (11.1%)
3. Monitor and respond to incident and service requests assigned to network team (11.1%)
4. Undertake network fault investigations in local and wide area environments (11.1%)
5. Support logical and physical network security equipment in line with IT security policy (11.1%)
6. Upgrade/replace network equipment as required (11.1%)
7. Configure routing and switching equipment (11.1%)
8. Provide remote support to on-site IT staff and end users/customers during installation (11.1%)
9. Manage security mechanisms to prevent, detect, and respond to internal and external security threats (11.1%)

Qualifications & Requirements

10. 1 year experience working in Network administration type role. Or,1 year experience working in IT Security type role. Or, 1 year experience in Server administration type role, Or combination of such roles.
11. Strong understating of network technologies including WAN, LAN, VLAN, Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Wireless/WiFi
12. Understanding technical documents
13. Technical documentation and report writing (Incident Reporting)
14. Working knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem including Servers, Workstations, Virtualization, Azure.
15. Understanding of various backup technologies.
16. Understanding and use of KQL, SPL, FQL/CQL or other quarrying languages used within different SIEM platforms
17. Working knowledge of Microsoft Powershell.
18. Understanding of API’s and programmatic data retrieval

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:


Physical Demands:

26. This position will be required to occasionally life heavy equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be working in office and data center environments. This position will be working with electrical devices that require high voltage (240/120V) to operate; for activities such as server, network rack installation and maintenance.

TRAVEL:

27. This position may require travel to other IPS locations for information gathering, new office setups, system configuration, or training, as well as attending industry events. Travel expectations are 5-10% per year.

SAFETY:

28. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other "non-administrative" areas.
