Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00
Friday: 07:00 - 12:00

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced General Machinist to join a skilled workshop team within a precision engineering environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing precision components, tools, jigs and fixtures using a range of manual machine tools, with additional CNC exposure where applicable. The role requires a high standard of workmanship, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
Setting up and operating manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and drilling machines
Manufacturing precision components, tooling, jigs, fixtures and small batch parts to engineering drawings and specifications
Working to tight tolerances and ensuring all finished components meet quality standards
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, job sheets and process instructions
Selecting appropriate materials, tooling, speeds and feeds for machining operations
Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, dial indicators and height gauges
Carrying out basic machine maintenance and ensuring equipment is safe and operational
Supporting continuous improvement and problem-solving activities within the workshop
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
Working closely with engineering and production teams to meet deadlines and targets
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience as a General Machinist within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
You will also have:
Strong manual machining experience in a workshop environment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings confidently
Good understanding of machining techniques, materials and tolerances
Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
