Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. An exciting opportunity exists for Study manager to be part of the Women’s and Children’s Division Research Unit supporting and delivering high quality clinical research studies. They will be working to set up and deliver an early phase investigator led study with the Paediatric Consultant neurologist.

This post will involve working with the Paediatric neurology team on a new device study in early clinical trial development from conception of project through to final report writing. This is a part-time 1-year fixed post role of 22.5 hours/week. The post holder will be based in the UHBW Education and Research Centre and in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the safe conduct of all research processes, study set up and trial co-ordination including providing direct support for interventional trials, in accordance with the regulatory and legal frameworks. This will entail wide collaboration with clinicians and research staff to facilitate the successful conduct of trials.

The work requires initiative, accuracy and attention to detail. The post holder will be in contact with a broad professional group, as well as members of the public, and is expected to represent the Trust well at all times.

The post holder will be flexible, motivated with a keen interest in pursuing a wider knowledge and understanding of clinical research. The role will lead all aspects of study set up, co-ordination and management, including protocol and documentation development, HRA submissions, finance management, report writing, coordinating day-to-day research delivery. The successful applicant will have oversight of the recruitment plan, ensuring delivery to time and target.

They will have good computer skills to include database input experience, and use of Word and Excel. You will be able to collect and enter data that is accurate, clear and precise and to strict timelines. Experience in research is essential. The post involves direct contact with trial participants and families as well as the multi-disciplinary team and research team, so good communication skills are essential.

The work requires initiative, efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail. Workloads will be prioritised and managed by the individual. You will be in contact with a broad professional group, as well as members of the public and research sponsors.

All work will be carried out in accordance with the EU Directive, ICH-GCP, Research Governance and local Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
