Job Title: College Scout

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (ongoing recruitment for experienced personnel)
Overview
We are seeking reliable and experienced College Scouts to join our facilities and accommodation services team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the college's high standards of cleanliness, comfort, and safety for students, Fellows, and guests. We regularly recruit skilled scouts to support the daily operations of our residential and academic spaces.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning and Maintenance
1. Clean and maintain student bedrooms, corridors, shared bathrooms, and kitchens within residential areas.
2. Perform dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and polishing in public and common areas, including dining halls, libraries, and lounges.
3. Scrub and sanitize toilets, showers, and washrooms thoroughly.
4. Empty trash and recycling bins daily, ensuring proper waste separation.
5. Report maintenance issues, broken furniture, lighting faults, or any health and safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
2. Room Servicing and Laundry
6. Strip, launder, and remake beds; change bed linens and sheets weekly.
7. Manage the laundering of student linens and, where appropriate, assist with clothing labeling and upkeep in boarding environments.
3. Safety and Security
8. Follow COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations and handle cleaning products safely.
9. Ensure that rooms and common areas are securely locked after servicing, and report suspicious activity or unauthorized access.
10. Maintain awareness of student welfare and adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies, especially in boarding school settings.
4. Event Support
11. Prepare accommodation and facilities for conferences, vacation guests, and new student arrivals.
12. Rearrange and set up furniture or equipment for meetings, exams, and special events.
Common Skills and Requirements
13. Physical stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and moving furniture.
14. Attention to detail: Commitment to maintaining consistent cleaning and presentation standards.
15. Interpersonal skills: Polite, approachable, and able to interact professionally with students, Fellows, and other staff members.
16. Experience: Prior work in a college, university, hospitality, or similar environment is highly desirable.
