Buyer (Construction) – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Buyer in Luton to join a successful construction company and manage the procurement of materials, tools, and services to support project delivery.
Location: Luton
Salary: £40, – £55, per annum + negotiable depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 am – 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the purchasing process for construction materials, tools, and services
2. Source and evaluate suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable service
3. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements
4. Monitor market trends and supplier performance
5. Work closely with project managers to understand material requirements
6. Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing data, and supplier details
7. Ensure materials are delivered on time to meet project schedules
8. Review procurement procedures to improve efficiency and compliance
9. Resolve supplier issues, delays, and discrepancies promptly
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist within construction
11. Strong negotiation and communication skills
12. Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
13. Good knowledge of construction materials, pricing, and procurement processes
14. Proficient with procurement systems and Microsoft Office
15. Strong analytical skills with a data-led decision-making approach
16. Ability to work independently and within a team
17. Detail-focused with strong commercial awareness
