Job Description
The salary for this role is £31,100. Onsite working is expected for 3 days a week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is based at the following site; Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role

As Assistant Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in carrying out a range of financial accounting activities to ensure the accuracy of the data underpinning the UKAEAs Annual Accounts and Monthly Financial Reporting.
Key Accountabilities
* Post Financial Accounts month end Journals.
* Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations and updating the reconciliation control spreadsheet.
* Assist with the management of the UKAEAs fixed assets, including monthly reconciliations and depreciation, U4BW records, plating, disposals and verification.
* Prepare the monthly payroll reconciliations with U4BW and associated journals and reallocations and assist with payroll year end returns.
* Provide financial administration of the UKAEAs CycleScheme for employees.
* Assist with preparing information for inclusion in the monthly reporting to the Authoritys sponsoring Government Department, Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and other information requests from DESNZ.
* Monitor and reconcile the authoritys Duty Deferment Account and provide support with import and export procedures.
* Assist with the posting and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
* Assist with the UKAEA Treasury function, including preparation and processing of Treasury payments, Treasury Receipts and daily funding and completing weekly bank reconciliations.
* Assist with the monthly Construction Industry Tax return, VAT return, and annual Corporation Tax return as required.
* Assist with preparing information for inclusion in the interim and year end reporting to DESNZ
* Test the finance system for updates and upgrades relevant to Financial Accounts including liaising directly with System Admin.
* Assist with Internal Audits as required.
* Assist with a range of monthly and quarterly financial accounts tasks, and with UKAEAs interim and year end Annual Accounts and Audit.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Full or part qualified AAT or similar.
* Experience using an accounting ERP system (U4BW, Oracle, SAP, Sage).
* Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritise the workload.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good attention to detail.
* Ability to work as a team player & under their own initiative.
* Proficient in Excel (intermediate level basic formulas, vlookups, pivot tables etc.).
* Flexibility.
* Financial Accounting Experience.
