The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting students across the school. Working closely with teachers and the SEND team, you will help students who may need additional support with their learning, behaviour or engagement in lessons.
As this is a mainstream secondary school, your role will vary throughout the day. You may support students within the classroom alongside the class teacher, or work with smaller groups of students delivering targeted interventions to help those who may be working below their predicted grades.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on students’ academic progress and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting students within the classroom alongside the class teacher to help them engage with lesson content
* Providing one-to-one or small group support for students who require additional help with their learning
* Delivering targeted interventions for students who may be working below their predicted grades
* Assisting students with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs to access the curriculum
* Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students with their social and emotional development
* Helping students build confidence, independence and motivation in their learning
* Supporting the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and learning strategies
* Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to ensure students receive the right support
* Assisting with classroom organisation, learning resources and general classroom support
Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience working in a school or education setting (desirable)
* Transferable experience from care, youth work, coaching, mentoring or support work
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Patience, empathy and a positive attitude
* The ability to build strong relationships with students and staff
* A genuine passion for supporting young people’s development
This role is also perfect for aspiring teachers who are looking to gain invaluable school-based experience before starting teacher training.
