The Data and Insights Division is composed of four key areas: 1. Data Governance and Intelligence 2. Data Acquisition, Quality, Strategy and Literacy; 3. Data Insights; 4. Data Architecture, Platform and Engineering. This role offers an opportunity to design a data strategy aligned with organizational goals and to execute effective data delivery. D&I enables SJP to leverage data for actionable insights and data-led decision making.
The Data Architecture, Platform and Engineering (DAPE) Division integrates architecture, platform, and engineering to establish guidelines, principles, and development standards aimed at building a secure, resilient data platform for the future. It supports the SJP data ecosystem, advances the data strategy, and drives the decommissioning roadmap.
Working within the DAPE division, the role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and systems to manage, process, and analyze large datasets effectively. Ensuring optimized data flows, data quality measurement, and appropriate technology utilization are key responsibilities.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Developing data engineering solutions that balance functional and non-functional requirements.
2. Building, testing, and deploying scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing large volumes of data from sources like Bluedoor, Rowan Dartington, Salesforce, and third-party providers.
3. Establishing, modifying, and maintaining data structures and providing expertise in database management and data warehouse design.
4. Designing and developing integration of the data platform with other enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP, and marketing automation platforms to enable seamless data sharing and analysis.
5. Optimizing data workflows for efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness, and troubleshooting performance issues.
6. Monitoring infrastructure performance and health to ensure the platform meets analytical and business needs.
7. Collaborating with Data Acquisition and Data Governance teams to ensure data quality, lineage, and security are incorporated into developments.
8. Providing guidance on database and data warehouse architectures, software, and facilities.
Who we’re looking for:
We seek an experienced Senior Data Engineer to ensure adherence to best practices and guidelines. The role primarily involves developing on the Data platform, with potential involvement in other systems. The candidate will also assist in testing and support the implementation of improvements.
1. Extensive experience in data engineering and data integration roles.
2. Proficiency with data tools and technologies such as Snowflake, SQL, AWS, and/or Azure.
3. Experience with project lifecycles and collaboration with PMS, BAs, Testers, and Developers.
4. Strong skills in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues.
5. Expertise in Snowflake development and engineering.
6. Experience with other data tools like Talend, MuleSoft, Matillion, SSIS.
7. Experience in data integrations to support business questions.
8. Stakeholder management skills and ability to foster relationships across business areas.
9. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
