Junior Electrical Design Engineer
Peterborough
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the design of MCC panels, including motor circuits, safety circuits, PLC equipment and panel layouts
Support the production of I/O configurations, I/O lists, material specifications and bills of materials
Prepare and update cable lists, basic sizing calculations, electrical test sheets and single-line diagrams
Assist with cable routing design, containment sizing and updates to building layout drawings
Support the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) in line with CDM regulations
Assist with on-site modifications to electrical hardware and panels (24VDC, 230VAC, 415VAC) under supervision
Take part in electrical testing and basic fault-finding activities on site
Work closely with senior engineers and other disciplines to learn best practices and improve design quality
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Technical/Vocational qualification or degree in Electrical Engineering, or C&G Level 3 / NVQ Level 3
Working knowledge of BS7671 and general electrical safety requirements
Some experience or exposure to AutoCAD, EPLAN, Amtech or similar electrical design software
Basic understanding of PLCs, drives and control gear (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider)
Comfortable using Excel and standard engineering documentation
Willingness to learn, ask questions and develop technical skills
Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally (UK and limited overseas)
Desirable (Not Essential)
Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Exposure to MCC panels, control panels or site-based electrical work
Awareness of commissioning or testing activities
