Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical design of battery modules, enclosures, and bespoke components using SolidWorks 2025 (connected to 3D Experience)
* Develop IP67–IP68-rated enclosures and integrate harness and cable routing into assemblies
* Apply GD&T principles and ensure compliance with environmental and mechanical standards
* Design using plastic injection moulding, sheet metal, and materials such as aluminium, ABS, and fibreglass-reinforced plastics
* Engineer busbars, connectors, and laser-welded assemblies for high-reliability applications
* Perform tolerance analysis and ensure electrical safety spacing in compact designs
* Collaborate with ECAD engineers to import and integrate 3D models (STP files) into SolidWorks
* Optimise designs for mass manufacture and assembly, identifying risks and refining components pre-production
* Attend weekly engineering progress meetings and deliver updates on tasks and milestones
Experiences required
* A minimum of 5 years in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
* Strong background in DFM and creating detailed technical drawing packs
* Experience with harness and cable routing, battery module design, and enclosure development
* Familiarity with plastic and sheet metal design, joining techniques, and compliance standards
* Must provide own CAD workstation
* Must provide own SolidWorks 2025 license
* Must have an active SC clearance or DBS certificate or be willing to provide one a basic DBS certificate
Locations include Halifax, West Yorkshire; Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire; and Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
