Junior 2nd Line Support Engineer Location: Hursley, 5x a week Clearance requirements - SC eligible 5yrs uk residency Salary: £28,000 per annum We are actively looking to secure a Junior 2nd Line Support Engineer to join Experis. We are passionate about training, technology and career development. Key Responsibilities Provide 2nd line support for critical applications and infrastructure in a high-availability environment. Respond to and resolve incidents escalated from 1st line support, taking ownership from diagnosis through to resolution or escalation to 3rd line/vendor where required. Ensure effective communication with users, clients, and delivery teams throughout the incident lifecycle. Proactively monitor systems and services to prevent issues, using tools such as Netcool and SolarWinds. Work collaboratively with IBM delivery teams, third parties, and stakeholders to implement service fixes and process improvements. Maintain detailed documentation of issues, fixes, and known errors to support continuous improvement. Participate in change management, patching, and system maintenance activities as required. Contribute to process and governance improvements, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to best practice standards. Required Skills & Experience Proven experience in a 2nd line support or application support role within a live service/critical environment. Knowledge of: Netcool (event monitoring) ServiceNow (SNOW) or equivalent ITSM tool PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting SQL (queries, troubleshooting) Oracle databases SolarWinds (infrastructure monitoring) Nice to Have (Desirable) Skills AIX (UNIX administration and support) IBM MQ (messaging middleware) AWS (EC2, VPC - cloud infrastructure basics)
