Overview
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised therapist to join our Children's Speech and Language Therapy team in County Durham. The service comprises qualified therapists and assistant practitioners, as well as full administrative support. You will work within a designated locality team and carry a varied caseload receiving support from clinical leads and specialists as appropriate. This post is suitable for a newly qualified practitioner and will provide a solid foundation for your career working with children and young people. To provide speech and language therapy services to children and young people with a range of different speech, language and communication needs.
Responsibilities
* Be an active member of the local multi-disciplinary team and work closely with the Children’s Therapy team to ensure continued development of the service.
* Support the smooth running of the Community Services.
* Work within a designated locality team.
* Be passionate about improving health outcomes for children and young people, working closely with health colleagues, partner agencies, parents and carers.
* Excellent communicator, working independently and as part of a team in different settings.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum of two years of experience working within the NHS as a Healthcare Assistant for the Trust to consider sponsorship (candidates must meet this criteria and have a current visa expiring within 3 months).
* You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks.
Work Locations
We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We also have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
